Each January the New Year begins with tons and tons of different marketing tools to get people to buy into resolutions. This is the first year I've not made any resolutions for myself for the following reasons:
1. I make too many for myself.
2. I never finish them be it lack of motivation or just forgetting most of them come Feb.
3. I've learn that I should resolve to do/complete something that I probably should do anyways!
4. I think they are becoming cliche and it's easy to make them and not follow through.
There are probably more reasons but those should suffice.
The reason I bring this up is because I have a lot of tasks ahead of me over this winter. Our fence, since day one, has been a thorn in our side. One thing we wanted was a nice wood privacy fence after e bought our house. We saved and saved and did our research on the best options and pricing. We decided on building the fence ourselves and also to buy pre-made panels rather than building it board by board. With all the enthusiasm in the world and a positive attitude I embarked on building my first privacy fence. All was going well until a storm came though and knocked part of my fence down. Luckily this was early in the process and the entire fence wasn't up so it was an easy fix. We finished the fence with minor bumps along the way but nothing major.
Recently over the end of Fall and beginning of Winter our fence has taken a beating. High winds have torn through our fence on 2 different occasions. First time we lost 2 panels off the fence but repairing the problem easy. This past storm did a lot more damage. We had 3 panels come loose and 2 post break at the base. Not such an easy fix.
I'm writing this as I also search for solutions and different quick fix options for our fence. We wanted our fence mainly because of Jax and wanting to have the option of keeping him outside. Our yard isn't the most fence-friendly yard we've come to discover. Our yard falls off into a ditch and isn't level at all. We hauled in 2 loads of dirt soon after moving in to help this problem but didn't do enough. The same week we got the fence Jax proof so that he couldn't get out the storm blew it down.
This is a long way to say that one of the things I hope to accomplish in the near future is to completely fix the fence and make it so that Jax can be an outside dog. With the new addition of Bab Huck to the family, I hate to say, Jax has become a step-son. Beth and I both would hate to admit that but he has. Our awareness of the cleanliness of our house is always on our mind. Once little Huck man starts crawling around, we can't have the floor riddled in hair. We have just purchased new furniture that is scheduled to arrive Tuesday. Our current furniture is the last bit of Hodge-podge stuff we have in our house. We've slowly managed to get stuff of our own and gotten rid of the hand-me-down furniture. So it is my hope that I can fix the fence, get Jax moved outside, and continue to complete the tasks ahead of me in this new year!
